See The USA In Your RV
I know the price of gas will give a lot of people an excuse to stay home and it's only going to get worse as summer approaches but don't let that stop you from having some fun. Think of it as an investment in your sanity and before you take that cruise or overseas trip, consider an RV vacation.
An RV experience can be had over a weekend without the security issues of air travel. You don't have to go hundreds of miles from home. Check out some areas within a hundred miles or so of where you live and get the family together in an RV. You don't even have to buy one.
Rent a motorhome, pop-up or travel trailer and see what you have been missing, almost literally right in your back yard. And even if you do decide to go further, the gas money you spend will be recovered by not having to stay in an expensive hotel. RV'ing gets you next to nature, it relaxes you like no other mode of travel and is loads of fun. If you are a baby boomer who planned on buying an RV when you retired and feel you have to continue to work – get a smaller RV or rent one in the meantime. It's the most fun you can have on wheels.

Great advice. Not only is an RV vacation usually less expensive, but it's a great way to check out the RV lifestyle. We always recommend buying a small used one to start to find out if you like the lifestyle and to figure out what you really want in an RV. Since new RVs depreciate 20-30% when you drive them off the lot, a mistake can be costly. Buying used is a low-cost way to get started.
