"But Shane, There Are Too Many"!

RV's that is, not outlaws  - Just a plug for one of my favorite old westerns, Shane, with Alan Ladd. This boomer RVer loves his westerns!

What we try to do here at BoomerRVer,  other than offering up those little zingers of our boomer history that we are so fond of, our favorites that we  like to use to remind ourselves and others that real rock n roll is alive and well, the 50's, The Sixties, 70's and even some of the 80's TV shows, music and historic moments are remembered fondly on the BoomerRver website.

Bits of boomer trivia are always flying about both at home and on the road, co-mingling with talk about our next RV adventure. One of my personal favorite things to do is to set up with my laptop in the RV parked in my front yard. It sits tucked back in the trees, covered in shade, pine-scented air flows through the RV's many screened windows. It's my own Zane Grey cabin! And right beside me sits my dog-eared copy of Paul McCartney' s – Many Years From Now, my current boomer RVer bedside table reading material. One of the greatest books about the Beatles I have ever read, told in a style unique to Beatles fans. It' s more a collaboration with Paul as penned by Barry Miles, a very close friend of the Beatles and the only man who could have gotten Paul McCartney to speak so openly and honestly. And you talk about Boomer Trivia! Did you know for example that much of the music of the sixties was made under the influence of drugs? Hard to believe, I know but listen to this:

We gather all the useful resources an RVer might need in order to make an informed decision when it comes time to purchase an RV. Other than our own simple Google Adsense ads, and a few affiliate relationships you will find no other advertising. We are just a boomer generation couple enjoying the RV lifestyle and we enjoy the process of exploring the world of RVing, sharing those stories about the helpful people that we meet along our way; the RV owners, the RVing part-timers and those fortunate few that chuck it all and hit the road full time. RVers with their awesome motorcoaches,  the 5th wheelers, nbsp;the "bushwhackers"  adventurous go anywhere cabovers, toyhaulers with their ATV's, motorbikes, and the hardiest RVers of all, the pop-up people.

As a baby boomer husband and wife that just turned 60 we are looking forward to the day (just about two years from now) where we can thumb our nose at corporate America and discover the real America on the open road in our perfect RV.

Boomer RVer Update! As of May 2010 we are on the prowl for our 2nd travel trailer and loving the process. This could not be a better time to trade up, there are deals everywhere! We have discovered that the perfect RV is something you grow into. Most of the motorhome guys I speak with on the road started with a 5th wheel or travel trailer of some sort, towing it for the most part.

Once we decided that the RV life would play a huge role in our retirement plans we formulated a three year plan that involved a lot of research that would ultimately result in an RV purchase of some kind but we also needed to clear the air on a few misconceptions. For example: We didn't know a slide- out from a pop up and we certainly couldn't use a public restroom – yuck! So that meant finding an RV with a suitable bathroom – not negotiable!

I will never forget the very first RV we looked at was a 34 foot 5th wheel beauty and when my wife saw that the bathroom on board was better than the one at home I had to restrain her from yanking out her checkbook right there on the spot! From then on we began to wonder more about the tow vehicle specs, what would it take to tow this thing comfortably and oh, by the way, how am I going to feel about backing this baby? And if the bathrooms are this good in a 5th wheel what must the ones in the big motorhomes be like?

Make It The Right RV ForYou

There are so many different kinds of RV's to choose from out there and being fortunate to live in Arizona we have lots of choices. We could have purchased the first or the 100th of any RV we looked at, they were are all cozy, well furnished, and solidly built, each with it's own set of charms & features. Only by reminding ourselves that this was a major purchase, not something you could buy on an impulse, and the fact that we were not quite ready to pull the trigger yet, kept us honest.

After much online and personal shopping around for an RV you too will begin to develop an idea of what it is that you want based on the type of travel you plan to do and where your comfort levels are. Then it starts to get easier. Am I suggesting that you take three years to find your perfect RV? No, not necessarily. But I do advocate that you take your sweet time. Oh, and did I mention that all the time that we spend looking is huge – FUN!
