Elvis Would Rather RV Than Fly!

a very young Elvis PresleyRecently I was parked in a RV park near Memphis, not far from Graceland and thoughts strayed to the King Of Rock @ Roll himself, Elvis Presley. I remembered running across an old photo in the family archives and I was able to locate it in a box I kept in my fifth-wheel travel trailer.

Believe it or not this is my cousin Kathy, seen here with a very young and flirty Elvis Presley. Kathy, a "Jet Bunny" was about to experience her 15 minutes of fame with the future King Of Rock and Roll.

Elvis Gropings At 24,000 ft!

Trapped (virtually alone) in the cabin of the Playboy Jet with Elvis, she was about to test all the skills she had learned in Bunny training about protecting her virtue in a hopeless situation. They were on their way to the opening of the London Playboy Club, flying from Los Angeles to Heathrow. Not many people know what happened on that flight, cause she ain't telling and Elvis is locked away in a East Texas nursing home where nobody but JFK knows he is the real Elvis!

Bubba Ho Tep, the Movie

Bruce Campbell does a superb job as an aged Elvis, and Ossie Davis is pure genius as a black JFK in this comedy/horror that no one bothered to see at the movies but I remember reading that the critics absolutely loved it. Let me go out on a limb here and declare this bit of movie madness to be known from this point on as a "classic."

If you have an imagination and are an Elvis fan like I am, you will get a sincere kick out of this movie. After watching these clips of the movie you will want it for your collection. Buy Bubba Ho Tep from our Amazon store and we will be eternally grateful!

Top 5 Hits From 1966 In My RV

Back then I was a 16 year- old junior in high school April 9th, 1966 thinking of the girls who worshiped me as a lifeguard for the summer, looking forward to being a hotshot senior at 18 and eventually joining the service. Barry Sadler almost had me convinced that I had to be a Green Beret. Fortunately I came to my senses and joined the United States Marine Corps after graduating.

Now I find a peaceful spot in the forest and when the time is right I listen to the oldies, close my eyes and remember how it was in 1966, an important year in boomer history.

RV Vacations More Affordable when compared to Other Vacations

"Regardless of gas prices, RV owners still get a bigger bang for their buck when compared to other types of vacations," says Richard Coon, president, Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). "Affordability is a key reason why RV travel appeals so much to families."

Coming Of Age In 1963

High school sock hops, American Bandstand, Beatles coming, what a great time to be a teen. 1963 represented the last year of sanity, a cultural explosion was just around the corner. As Don Henley would later proclaim, this was the end of the innocence.
