This week the BoomerRVer takes you back to 1961. If memory serves that would put these guys into a zone somewhere between the beatniks of the 50's and the invasion of the hippies. The guys and gals groovin to these sounds were seniors when I was a sophomore but age-wise, right in the middle of Boomerdom, for sure.

One of my all-time favorite western shows from the 60's. Richard Boone played Paladin – a fast gun for hire – fast, and very smart too. A western Clark Kent, maybe too smart for a gunfighter.
Just How Luxurious Can An RV Get?
Now, this picture shows how over the top this RV thing is getting now that all us affluent boomers are wanting to re-create our home comforts on the road. Having room for your Jag in your RV is pretty unique but I don't particularly advocate that kind of lifestyle, keeping up with the mobile Joneses. I prefer a more compact way of travel with a vehicle I can still shop with, back up in an rv park or drive down the street in Old Town USA without taking out the parking meters.
However, I do think that boomers are leading the way toward a more luxurious mobile lifestyle, whether it's for full time RVing in a motorhome or just an occasional romp in style. I believe this trend toward luxury motorhome purchases will outsell most other RV markets, 5th wheels, travel trailers, pop-ups, etc, for the next five to ten years.
Much to my surprise, according to the Federal American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Scorecard, Social Security’s online benefit application has the highest score among all federal websites! (and that's a lot of websites fellow boomers) ACSI notes “Their score of 88 puts them in the elite company of online private sector satisfaction leaders like Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.
"Social Security provides economic protection to millions of Americans and their families,” Commissioner Astrue said. “And we remain committed to providing the public with the highest quality service possible. Boomers are a generation of trendsetters and they lead the way by doing business the baby boomer way – with Social Security online.”

Over the next two decades, nearly 80 million Americans will become eligible for Social Security benefits, with more than 10,000 retirees per day filing for their Social Security benefits. (Oh, and here is a tip from me: Start drawing your benefit as soon as you are eligible, I know, it's a lower amount at the minimum age of 62, but all the experts say to go that route. Of course, if you don't particularly need Social Security benefits as part of your retirement income, by all means, wait to get the higher amount.
